We are trying to upgrade a SQL 6.5 server to SQL 7.0 using the upgrade wizard. We installed the 7.0 server over 6.5 and are now trying to upgrade . The upgrade stops after we enter the sa password for import and export server and wont go further. It does not give any error messages either . Just stops and wont go to next screen after we click next.
while installing 7.0 we got a warning message that said "cannot read codepage from SQL 6.5 server"
The next screen that should come up in the wizard is the one that asks for the codepage. Does anybody know why this is happening . Has anybody else had the same problem.
any input will be greatly appreciated.
We have done a dozen conversions so far and this is the first time we have encountererd such a problem.
The 6.5 server uses a codepage of 850, sort order id of 42
I had some trouble similar to what you are describing with the upgrade utility hanging, I don't recall exactly at which step. I don't know what caused it but for me the problem resolved itself after booting the server. Good luck!

Believe me we tried everything. Rebooting the server, reinstalling SQL 7.0 and then rerunning the upgrade wizard but still the wizard wont go any further. Thanks anyway
