Hi all!
I have win2000 domain with two domain controllers. My question is how should i process the upgrade to win2003 domain, which domain controller need to be upgraded first.
And are there any reasons that during the process of upgrade these two DCs need to be connected to the network,or i can disconnect the first from the network, upgrade it,connected again and the same procedure with the second.
Also i will be very happy if someone give me nice tested method link for procedure of upgrading process
Thank you!

1. leave them connected to the network...

2. on the DC holding the schema master role, run the following commands in this order.

adprep /forestprep
adprep /domainprep

adprep is on the CD (somewhere...)

3. You can upgrade the DCs...

Can you list which DCs hold which FSMOs??

I just want something I can never have...

Yes i can list which DCs hold FSMOs.
After i have run adprep /forestprep
adprep /domainprep on the schema master and upgrade it to win 2k3, should i run it again when i start upgrade of the second DC?

nope...

it needs to be done once, on the schema master role DC

it modifies the schema to add the 2003 specific stuff, in a nutshell

One question more,if i create new users in the AD after i have run adprep /forestprep and adprep /domainprep and before to upgrade windows 2000 to windows 2003 ,do i need to run these again

nope...

the 2 commands modify the schema classes to be compatible with 2003 additions.
anything you create after will have these new classes...
