Hi..
I am upgrading a client from IP406 v3.2(55) Main Unit an IP500v2 v9.0

Can I just use Manager v9 to take a config from the IP406 and then upload this straight to the new Unit ?

I should say, I am getting the licenses migrated to the SD card, and I've purchased an Essential Edition License too, so should be no other issues.
And obviously I will need to move the 8DS ports to new locations etc..

I just want to make sure it is safe to get the config without any corruption..
From memory I think v3.2 onwards was forwards compatible with newer versions of Manager, can anyone confirm ? :)

If memory serves Me right R9 manager will not read configs below R4

Make sure You first fire up the new 500v2 with a R9 sd card.

I saved a config with Manager v3.2 and then opened this offline with Manager v8 (will try Manager v9 shortly), which seemed to work.
I just need to find out if this config is actually ok, even though it looks ok.

No. Do NOT move a 406 config to a 500.
Export your users/groups/etc, then re-import into the 500. It may take a bit longer, but you'll be better off.

Ok thanks for the tip, I will export & import so I get a fresh config.

There are some DSv2 modules, which should work on V9 (according to product matrix)
I plan to upgrade the DSv2 mods to 4.2 first.. will they be upgradeable from 4.2 to v9 directly?

You need to upgrade them to 3.2.999 first and then to 9.0.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks dude!

Doing that as I type this.

The 3.2.999 is a step required to go from 3.x to 4.x or higher.
We also use it to solve dtmf issues.
I did it last week on a couple of modules.

the 3.299 is for upgrading 400 series units, it is not relevant when switching to an IP500 series.

to be honest if I was upgrading this far I would probably say sod it & reconfigure from scratch, there is probably half a ton of redundant programming anyway + V9.0 will have far nicer ways of configuring many features.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Are you sure?
It is the same hardware in a different box.
Also you can upgrade the IP500 ds30 modules to 3.2.999

Trust me, stepping through 3.2.999 WILL fix and prevent issues even with new kit at R9, where I played "Russian roulette" twice by not doing it both had odd issues, all others where I did it anyway have been fine :)
