Hello

As version 9 is supposed to be released today does anyone know if I can do the following.

I need to build the system today in the office and will have the box on 8.1 and I will want to install the system next week on V9. Does the system lock down its firmware when the first call has been made or will I need an upgrade license if I build the system on 8.1?

Cheers

Nope. Switched it from basic before I ran the upgrade.

When there is no call made then you can upgrade.
After the first call then you will need an upgrade licence.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Funny thing is I called into tech support with our Avaya distributor just to see what they thought before I did it, and they told me it required a license either way. I didn't believe them, so I upgraded it anyways. They were obviously wrong.

make a call and it will stop working or blow up probably :)

If you look in licences, do you have a virtual essential edition licence...or an actual essential edition licence or neither? :)

All licenses (including Essential Edition) show a valid (non-virtual) key.

That's why it's working as you have the licence, no news there. It used to allow a free upgrade within 90 days and free essential....:)
