Hello Netbackup experts,

Do you have any news about Netbackup 6 stability ?

In the thread, many people and articles suggest not to upgrade to Netbackup 6 until major bugs have been fixed.

Now at mid-2007, is Netbackup 6 more "mature" with latest patchs or this advice still prevails ?

Thanks a lot for your feelings about it.

Don't do it unless you have a valid business reason.

Thanks Bob.

Do you think NetBackup 6.5 will adress those issues ?
It'll contain lots of cool stuffs but the main application is still based on the same core, with same sybase/scheduler weak points I suppose.

I think 6.5 MP1 should be ok
As a general rule I wait until the first MP is made available before jumping onboard.

I can tell you that if your 5.1 catalog is clean and older media servers have been removed from the catalog properly, then an upgrade from 5.1 to 6.0 MP4 is stable.

I would suggest you visit the 6.0 Upgrade Portal that is availabe on the Symantec support site.

MP4 for 6.0 is VERY stable.

Sorry to bump this old post, but...

Actually, the decision has been taken to migrate to NBU 6.5.
We don't have choice as it the only way to support Exchange 2007 backups.

There's no "MP" anymore but "upgrade releases". I've seen that 6.5.1 has been released.

Any thought about this version ?
