I am trying to upgrade a SQL Server 2000 installation running on W2000 Server SP3 to Enterprise Edition.

During the installationprocess the option "Upgrade your current installation" is greyed out. How come?

At the same time I am trying to upgrade Analysis Services. How do I know if I have successfully upgraded analysis services to enterprise edition? In the About.. box the version number is 8.0.760

Are you currently trying to run SQL Server 7 on the 2003 server?

Thanks

Thx for the info.

But I am trying to upgrade an installation of SQL Server 2000 running on W2000 Server SP3. I am not sure what SP we have on the SQLServer, I will check that out.

from Query Analyzer you can run

SELECT @@Version

OR ... you can right click on the server in Enterprise Manager and look at it properties. Either way, here are a few of the most important version numbers for SS2K.

8.00.194 SQL Server 2000 RTM
8.00.384 SQL Server 2000 SP1
8.00.534 SQL Server 2000 SP2
8.00.760 SQL Server 2000 SP3

Thanks

We've got SP3 for both W2000 Server and SQLServer.

Anybody got a good reason why the option to upgrade current installation to enterprise edition is not available when we run the CD?

I dont think that is the upgrade they are talkign about. i beleive upgrade is between versions of sqlserver, not between types. i think to install enterprise, you will have to uninstall the current standard one. Thats assuming you want only one instance on the machine. You could possibly install it all to a seperate directory on the same machine, then transfer everything in, then uninstall the standard one.
