A friend that I have been helping curently has a Partner ACS. He anticipates growing out of that system in about 4 months. What are the recomendations for a more expandeble system that would posably be able to use the same phones. I was thinking about maybe a Merlin Magix system.

Thanks,
Don

If you want to keep the partner phones. Legend or Magix is the only way you have. Although that will require ETR cards, which are not particularly easy to come by.

Hi Don,
Lose the Partner phones and go with the TDL phones. Users will try to use the Partner phones the way they did on the Partner system. Not worth the pain. Plus, you will have to buy some TDL or MLX phones for the reception position and may as well others.
So you can go with the Magix or iP Office. Depends on what your friend wants to to in the future. It is still not worth trying to keep the Partner phones.

Also, the ETR cards have been known to be problematic at times.

why not dump the whole avaya concept and do a panasonic!

Why would you dump Avaya?? They are all really good switches. Reliablity is not a worry either. The customer already has a Partner and needs a bigger switch.

well i am assuming that the person above is not an avaya dealer. And I can tell you any of the panasonic
is easier to admin than a magix or legend!and if you add
voicemail in the mix you might as well break out a decade calender!!!

Hi cwc3,
That's an assumption. Bigger systems normally use an interconnect company to administer anyhow. That and the other systems are feature rich. They aren't that bad to admnister for day to day changes.
Besides, if this is true, what do you say about a Nortel system then? Add voicemail and commit suicide? (by comparison)
-Chris

I hate the code driven programming on the Panasomic. I like the Menus in the Magix, and I also like the OPTION to use menus in the Partner. I really dont care much for Panasonic. And voicemail isnt that hard to administer. (i cant wait till Audix can be used on partner, it may be overkill, but I LOVE Audix)

Well, if you want my opinion on phone systems in general. If you can afford it, definity beats em all, even if it is for a not so big business. And I still like Magix more then nortel But I would MUCH rather have a Nostar then a Partner. I really dont care too much for partner.

Well I will still go with the Magix, is versatile and you can go from key system to PBX to behind the PBX. As well that for a small business is perfect to go from a few station to more than 200. Also you have differnt chises on trunking (analog, T1), remote access, voice mail, etc.
