Hi,

How will be the process when upgrading my S8300/G450 system with CM5.2.1 to CM 6? Can I still use the same hardwares? or I need to migrate to midsize servers?

Thanks

If you have an S8300D you can use the same hardware. It's a reformat/reload/restore translations from backup however, the upgrade to CM6 will not preserve anything on the hard drive. You also need to apply a pre-upgrade service pack on CM5.2.1, then backup the translations - you will restore those into CM6

Hi,

Thank you! Do I need to purchase additional hardware like for session manager?

Yes, session manager and system manager both require hardware or virtual machines if you want them.

Is it really needed or just an option? I need to upgrade this to CM 6. What is the best way? Retain S8300D/G450 and purchase server for session and system or have MES purchase?

you can forget about system and session manager , if all you want to do is upgrade your existing equipment to r6x , system manager is for managing lots of different platforms , session manager is a sip routing engine , you require neither at the moment dont get bogged down in what you might need , if your current cm soloution works then you are good to go.

Hi montyzummer,

Thank you for this! But right now, my S8300D is working as SIP Server as well. That's what I need session manager only when I upgrade it?

Thank you for the help.

You can install bsm(or branch session manger) on the cm6 template, but that will depend on your enviroment are you using ses?

Yes, Im using SES. what will be better then?

HI,

Do I need two servers if I need Session for SIP? 1 for System Manager and 1 for Session Manager?

yes or you could virtualise with vm ware and sit them on one
