I have an NEC2000IPS Client with One Pim, VM, T1 & 8DLC's.
Very Simple, Very straight forward. 3 digit EXTs

They have run out of Ports... to add Phones.

I picked up a 2 PIM switch....as I just need the second chassis,PWR and the MP card (expanded/licensed)
Seems I got a "Remote" system setup. It had IPLA cards.
MP24-B, 4 Digit EXT's

Couple of things.
First, I can't get into it VIA Matworx, LAN port on MP card. Do you have to go in via the LAN port on the M632 daughter board/IPLA Card?

I guess that is all moot if I can't Reprogram it as needed.
Can this system be reprogrammed as a:
TWO "Pim, VM, T1 & 8DLC's...Very Simple, straight forward"
like the existing system? Remove IPLA's etc
I didn't realize, at first, what the system was. While testing, a phone in the first PIM, say ext4155, LEN 00045, I couldn't find in cmd 14. There were 100's and 100's of other Ext's and virtuals. I've never done a multi site NEC2000.

So can I manually reprogram this? or is it forever licensed as
a "remote" (if that)
If OK, is it best to erase all previous data? without loosing license?
Can I Load the existing client program back on this system?
(3 digit ext. vs 4)
Seemed so simple when they asked.

We're not NEC dealers

One more thing... If you save the customers database and it's saved from a CPU that is 3100 Series (F1) or older and you upload it to a CPU that is 3200 Series (F2) or higher, after you load it you haver to place the CPU in the OFF-LINE MODE and perform Command 00-90-0 execute. This will convert the existing database to R6.2 format.

NEAX....I like your idea

Last thing first......BOTH the client's existing and the remote CPU are P1 3900 Series R14 !!
So I would not need to convert anything?
Maybe that is why the one time I uploaded the client data to CARD 1 R6.1,
and did NOT perform Command 00-90-0.... it acted all hosed.

Back to REMOTE CPU...I like that idea because it the same as Client's 3900 Series R14.
It shows 128 ports (F88-10) but F88-01: 0000 ?? 2 PIMS?
This system shipped as two cabinets, 19 inch rack mount, and all rack hardware was installed.....meaning I am sure it was two PIM. yet F88-01: 0000

"provided it has 64-Port and Key Keeper software loaded"
How can I ensure that?
I don't have any IPS software, so I may take you up on your offer.

I plan to go in this Friday after 5pm and do a C load on the Remote Card. (lack of better term)
OK idea? I do want to try and upload client data to this card. Should I try?
And C load, then upload client program the right order, and anything else?
Wait till I verify 64-Port and Key Keeper software loaded ??

B load any good here or hurt me?
SO.... hook up PIM's, C load, Save/Load/Verify Client to New Card.
Test.
I suppose I could (should) Save the Remote card's Data. Worthless to me as a client,
but is other important stuff saved? Save it on THEIR desktop MAT terminal (LAN) under a different name?

I just ordered a MAT cable for my shop.
The client PBX is LAN connected. My laptops work great on site. I have never been able to connect in my LAN here. Weird. So I've had to go onsite for testing etc.
Sometimes I just bring a spare PIM and work on the Card.
I hope to be able to do it all from the shop with cards, client data etc.

You state: "Since it is a CP24, it can be used as a main system CPU provided it has 64-Port and Key Keeper software loaded on it"
How do I verify that?

You also mentioned "convert the existing database to R6.2 format. "
Looks like I WILL be Loading the EXISTING client s/w 3900 Series R14 (1 PIM) onto a 3900 Series R14 card (the Remote card)2PIM
However...moot point, but SHOULD I be able to load 3900 Series R14 s/w (1PIM) BACK onto a 3100 Series R6.1 card?("promo" 64 port 2PIM)
Looking like I won't. Seems I got a MEDIA tyoe warning

Promo Switch has never dumped or lost 2nd PIM programming in power fail.....FYI to all

THANKS

***Check Command F80-01-??? If there is a 13 digit number in there,64 port software had been loaded

You also mentioned "convert the existing database to R6.2 format. "

***If you save a database from an R14 CPU and loading into another CPU that is R14, there would be no need to "convert" the database. You cannot load a databased saved from a CPU that is R14 and load it on a CPU that is 3100 Series or lower.
