I need some help. i couldn't get the upgrade to work. what are the steps to do the upgrade?
This is what I did.

make a backup of system programming
replace nvram cartridge v1 with v2 that came with 6.1
inserted old 4.0 XC rom card
restored the configuration

Everything worked fine. PRI was working and didn't have any trouble,
powered down the KSU and inserted 6.1 XC rom card.
When I power up the ksu the phones start flashing and never stop.
We have 2 T1 cards, one for PRI and another to link to remote office. Both cards just flash
we never get past this point. We left it running for 30 minutes and couldn't get it to work.
We installed the old V4.0 XC rom card and system came back up.
Could it be a bad 6.1 XC card? or do we have something not compatible with version 6.1 ?
What I most fear is that in the process of doing the upgrade something might go wrong and we loose the PRI activation keys.
Where are these keys stored? if anything goes wrong can we install the old vmram cartridge and v4.0XC card ?

there is no access to the keycodes entered, if it is lost only nortel can generate it for you, if you dont have the sheets.

when you are upgrading, it is recommended to remove all the 25pair cable connections from all modules , but the one which you have ur admin phone connected to ...

are your extensions working? or is it just the T1 cards that flash?

no extensions work. they all just flash. I will try this tonight

we have the ksu , 5 digital extension cabinets , 1 12x0 cabinets with e&m's , and 2 analog etx cabinets.

all phones just flash and the T1 cards. but never stop flashing

you should have used the upgrade tool and gone straight to 6.1. Your keycodes are probably lost.

when you downgrade a system, the keycodes are gone ...
seems like you didnt lose them, when you put the old XC back in.

when u upgrade from 4.0 upwards, i dont think there is a need for the upgrade tool. (like 4.0XC to 6.1XC)

No you don't need the upgrade tool to go from 4.0 to 6.1 but he would have been better off using it to change VRAM carts.

i havent done it this way using the upgrade tool to swapout NVRAM cartridges rel 1 to rel 2...can you tell how?
