I thought I would check with you experts before I try anything. My client has an existing MICS cabinet with 3.0 software and needs to upgrade to a higher software version so as to get the hunt group feature. We might as well upgrade to 7.1 to get all the enhancements.
I know when I tried to do this upgrade on a CICS, the system could not recognize the software so I had to open the CICS up and short out the battery then restart the system with the new 7.1 cartridge installed. It took awhile but the system came to life with the 7.1 version. I don't know if you can do this type of action with a MICS and if someone should even attempt it.
I am being told that all I need to do is insert the 7.1 cartridge into the MICS and fire it up and then do the programming. I don't believe this as NORTEL advised using an upgrade tool to take the system to 4.0 then to 6.1 and finally 7.1.
My question: will a MICS with 3.0 software upgrade to 7.1 version simply by plugging in the new 7.1 cartridge and do you advise shorting out the internal battery?
