Good Morning,
I need to upgrade a 2.1 Magix to 4.0. If I am correct should all I have to do is download a save to my laptop, replace the processor, do a convert and then restore, or do I need special software.

Thank you.

The convert process takes care of the "image", translations, programming or whatever you want to call it.

How are you going to upgrade the processor itself? Blowing in a converted backup file alone won't do it. There is a separate process for upgrade the processor's firmware. If you're swapping an older proc for a newer one, then ignore this post.

Dagwood did see the fly in the ointment.

You can not just do this with software.

I assumed you had the 2.1 AND a 4.0 Processor, that is, 2 separate modules.

If not, tell us exactly what you are attempting.

I think he's got it covered....

Yes. Our intention is to backup, convert, replace the 2.1 module with a 4.0 module and restore so it appears to be no big deal. Thank you to all for your help. Glad you guys are out there!

I have done this exact same thing with a release 2.2 to 4.0 processor and It keeps comming up with a default database. I have connected with winSpm 9, backup to file, converted to new file, installed new processor with and without new flash card, and loaded the converted file from winSpm. In every attempt the switch comes up with 2 digit default extensions. This should be easy??? I was told by someont that I may have to "default" the processor??? Any Ideas???

Have you looked closely at the processor you are installing?

It sounds to me like your "KEY SYSTEM ONLY" Switches are set in the wrong position, thus the 2 Digit Dial Plan.

They are on the edge of the processor near the edge connector.

Compare the3m to your old processor.
