You havn't specified if you have the "upgrade" CD or the "full version" CD.
You can upgrade from XP home to XP pro using the upgrade CD. I wouldn't recomend trying to upgrade using a "full version"
Back up important files before doing so. I upgraded from 'home' to 'pro' using the XP Pro Upgrade a couple of times, and the one time I didn't do backs ups, something went wrong, and now I can't read my files off the drive.
A full retail XP CD will not upgrade a Home license. You need the upgrade XP CD.
Then there is the problem if the original install is an OEM one.
You can always clean install. Use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard first through the existing install of Home. Do the clean install of XP Pro, and then call on the Wizard to restore your files and settings.
