Hello,

I just got a new micros server and workstations. The new RES 4.0 server will replace my existing RES 3000 server, and the plan is to add the old workstations to the new setup.

I've copied the database folder to from the old server to the new. I ran Database Manager, checked "Update/Upgrade Database" and clicked run. But the update fails with a log message reading "Database update files not found."

Any suggestions? Am I going about this all wrong?

Here are the version numbers of the old database:
POS Configurator
Version 3.2 SP7 hf7
(Build 3.2.105.2286)
DB Build Number: 2286
Last DB Hot Fix Applied: 105
res 3000

And here is what was installed on the new server when I got it:
DB Build Number: 2070
Last DB Hot Fix Applied: 4
PO Configurator
Version 4.6
(Build 4.6.4.2070)
res 4.0

Thanks!

Hi,
So on the new box you have installed RES4 up to whatever service pack you want. You then stop the DB services & rename MICROS.DB to MICROS.DB.OLD and MICROS.LOG to MICROS.LOG.OLD .
You then paste the old DB into this directory.
Start DBENG9 and then create a new blank DBLOG. When you restart DBENG9 now you will have a blank log (192k in size). See if you can start the DB to BOH. If so, go to DM and select UPGRADE.
