Will there be an upgrade path from RC2 to the full version? I can always recreate everything, but if I know it will work I will put a little more effort into configuring the system.

Thanks for your help,

Josh

there may well be, but i'd go for a full reinstall anyway.. you dont really want to run the risk of having beta files left lying around on a server!

This is probably true, but oh would it save me some work..

Thanks

Josh

what sort of things have you changed? you could possibly backup various config/reg files and put them right back in once reinstalled

That's a good point. I probably could. I really didn't want to have to recreate my Active Directory and such as well as my IIS settings.

I guess it's not a huge deal, I was just curious if there was an upgrade path planned. I can't remember if Win2K had one from the Betas.

Josh

IIS you can backup, but im not 100% sure how.. it stores all its settings in whats called the Metabase - search around on google for a bit and you should find something thatll help!

AD you possibly can.. i believe it uses a folder inside the windows folder, but unfortunately i cant be more specific than that as we're still NT4 here!

Over at the Windows Server 2003 CPP newsgroup, a microsoft representative said it should be possible, but if anything went wrong you would be on your own.

As always with these things, a fresh install is recommended when moving from a beta to a full product.

Thanks for the update. Do you know when they are going to open the Newsgroups to the public? I can't find my CPP info.

Josh

If you are on the CPP program, select the support menu, then newsgroups. At the bottom of the newsgroup list there is the password for the 2003 newsgroups. As for them being made puplic, no news as yet.
