Upgrade from 6 to 9 new v2

I have a new v2 and new essential edition license on the way to replace dead v2 running r6. Am going to be able to recreate the old r6 sd card with r9, or do I also need an upgrade license? I have done a lot of v1 to v2 replacements, but I always started out with a new sd card also.

The chassis is tied to the upgrade not the SD card. So build the SD card on 9.1 and install it into the new chassis and it will work without an upgrade licence.

Better boot at R9 first if the chassis you have below PCS14 or it won't boot at all at 9.1
