I have inherited a semi-expanded MICS that the previous tech had chopped into little customer groups using DN swap (example: port 101-DN 221, port 102-DN 352, port 103-DN 630, port 104-DN 224, etc).

This will be a nightmare to reprogram by hand...

Does anyone know the upgrade procedure to go from DR6.1 to XC7.1?

cutlycord, will it matter if the NVRAM is a rel 1.0 or 2.0? Wondering because I need to do the same thing and my supplier told me that if I have NVRAM rel 1.0 I could lose programming and that rel 2.0 would be no problem. True?

Upgrade the NVRAM first. Power down, put your DR6.1 software in the R2 NVRAM, insert into MICS and power on. After the MICS is fully booted up, power down and insert the DR7.1 software. After powering back on, be patient! Give it at least 10-15 minutes to come up.

That's just too damned simple...I didn't know whether going from DR to XC would change things.

Along the same line, if things go seriously wrong (which they have...), will a backup on the DR 6.1 restore to the XC 7.1?

Yes sorry....just assumed it was release 2 since it was at 6.1 but you never know who upgraded befor you.

No, when the go wrong revert to 6.1 then restore then try the upgrade again.

And if you are adding any hardware do it after the upgrade.

The NVRAM is release 2 so I think I'm cool. Thanks for the replies
