Does anyone have procedures on upgrading from 5.x to 6.1.3 on NT

The easiest way ...

Just do a partial uninstall of the old software (leaving the
databases behind) and install the new software - the rest
is done automatically.

Keep in mind:
- NW needs to convert the databases, especially the file
indexes. This takes time. I assume about 2..5 GB/h
depending on your system's configuration.
- So you should do this over the weekend, if possible.

Make sure you perform an index and media database checks becore upgrading. If there are problems with the databases and they are not corrected beforehand, then the upgrade will fail, and you will have to recover them and do it anyway.

nsrck -F
nsrim -X

Also ensure you have available space on the disk to convert your indexes. As a guide 2 to 3 times available space of your largest client index.

On the other hand you may delete all client file index and recover them from tape (yes, a golld full backup is necessary). There are some advantages:
- the media database conversion is rather short
- you do not need the disk space as pbarnes27 mentioned
correctly.
NetWorker will convert the indexes on-the-fly.
- you may choose the sequence (priority) by starting the
process for each client.
