What's the easiest way to upgrade a 406v2 on 4.1.9 to an IP500 on the same release. I know back in the day, you could upgrade the config from a 406 to a 412 automatically. Something like this exist for the 406v2 to a IP500?

Or is the import/export method the only way.

same way, save config, open offline, send config, manager says something like 406 to 500 yes/no, then all go

would this not cause issues....?

with extns being on different cards etc?

i was looking at doing the exact same thing this friday, but have done a full retype just to safe.

i presumed i would have problems.

we are going from a 406v2(with a vcm 5card and PRI30), ds30, s08 all on 4.0.5

to IP500 2x DS8 cards, VCM32, legacy carrier with PRI30
ds30 and s08 all on 4.1.

i was worried the extns wouldnt match, as there are now 8 more

Well RotoOrb, I didn't know that was even an option, I will try it and see what happens. In my case, I'll be using the same expansion modules, but will be missing the 8 DS and 2 phone ports from the 406. In the config on the 406, all my users are hotdesk users and the base extension numbers have been left at the default 200 range. Also, the license keys will need to be swapped due to the new feature key on the 500

Again I stress the need for an IP Office upgrade tool like the Magix had.

Look, users are the big pain. Like others have said, open the config offline and delete all items that are unit specific like lines, modules etc. then upload the modified config to the 500 with no modules or cards connected. Then turn off connect the cards power up and make the changes from there.

come on guys

Set up the basic things and import everything you did not setup
It will take maximum 1 hour work
The advantage of it is that you walked true the complete config and so error s can be eliminated straight away

Just start over using the previous as your programming information. you can have both configs open so you can click back and forth between the two. Just keep one straight from the other.

Why should it take me an hour when on the Magix it can take 30 seconds!

If they want to sell more 500s then get this done!

Because then you get money for an hour an not for 30 seconds
When you do this you know the config, when a program does do it you do not the config
If there is going something wrong then it will cost you more time
But i said an hour but it will be much less if you know what you are doing
