Hi there everyone. I have a customer that upgraded their BCM 400 Release 3.7 to a BCM 450 Release 6.0. The system is a redundant system and after the upgrade, the 2nd hard drive keeps failing. They have replaced the hard drive and re-installed the RAID keycode file. Any thoughts on what they can try next?

When you say failing, what do you mean ?

What exactly is happening ?

Under "Disk Mirroring" the second HHD shows that it Failed. The Administration is Enabled but the Operation show "Inactive". Under the Hardware it does show the second drive.

For the second HD, did you use a Nortel/Avaya HD or just put in a generic blank HD ?

It was the hard drive that came with the upgrade kit from the supplier.

You will need to check if its the multi image drive.

If it is you will need to load up the correct release onto it using putty before it will mirror.

There was a thread on this recently on this topic. Do a search and it should come up.

1) RAID on BCM 450 requires a keycode and the RAID HDD should be a blank drive from Avaya.

2) There was a known RAID issue on 6.0 corrected by a patch. Install the latest SU and you should be good to go.

HTH!
