Upgrade Client from 7 to 8i 1

Dear All

I have just upgrade my Oracle 7 server to Oracle 8i. All went well. But when I have come to upgrade the client I'm having problems.

When I come to install the Oracle 8i client I run the setup and no thing happens. I have tried this on a fresh install from the same cd. And this works. But doesn't work if your have had the old client on first.

Can all one please help.

Is the computer on which you are attempting to install the 8i client a Pentium IV? In that case there is a known problem with several known workarounds. The symptoms sound like that is the problem - you try to execute the installer and nothing happens. If this is the case, you can see faq186-1124 in this forum for more information.
