I need to upgrade a BCM 3.7 to a BCM450 R6.

What steps to I need to take?

Do I have to upgrade to 4.0 first, before upgrading to BCM450 R6?

or

Can I upgrade directly from 3.7 to 450, without upgrading to 4.0?

It depends on whether you want to migrate the data or not. If you want to keep existing info, you upgrade to 4.0, install the proper SU's required by data migration manager which I think is SU 24 or higher. You can then run the DMM tool and follow the 450 migration docs from there.

If you want to start fresh, you can rebuild the 450 from scratch and not go through the multiple upgrade steps.

I do not need to keep any of the programming, so I will not be using the migration tool.

My only concern is keeping all of the keycodes.
Do I stand any chance of loosing the keycodes that are already installed?
thanks

If I remember correctly, and someone can correct me if I am wrong, KRS needs to see your system as being on release 4.0 before the keycodes will migrate to the 450 platform. So, generate your 3.7 to 4.0 upgrade license in KRS to convert the keycodes to release 4.0 format, then use your migration keycodes to move the licenses from the old system to the new system.

Yes if you want to migrate the codes then the 400 needs to be release 4
