Hi.
When i try to upgrade from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 SP2a
i recive this error.
Error API: Dbinit.exe
Error Code: 106

I search NAI knowledge and get solutions that wont work.
Its about security on DB.
I did exactly what was told in the document but it didnt work.
Anyone had the same probs and solved it?

are you upgrading using a terminal server session?? if so, then it won´t work
check it out and retry the installation (reboot first)

Hi Sephir0th
Our Eposerver is a blade server which i can only gone on remote through a Rilocard or a terminal server session. And now efter trying with the Rilocard i still get the error.
Error API: Dbinit.exe

I had this trouble too, unable to upgrade through a terminal session.

working fine when connected on the server console

Hi,

You cannot install / upgrade ver 3 via Terminal Services. Only on ver 3.5 beta.

I'm now getting this problem too. It makes no difference whether connected through Terminal Services or actually at the server.

It works through an EPO console installed on another machine though.

No one in tech support seems to have a clue what to do about it.

While upgrading epo 3.0 sp1 to sp2 on windows 2003, follow the following steps.

1.grant local account in services for Mcafee epolicy server and event parser services.
2.Ensure the same thing for Ms sql services.
3. Rebbot the server and install the epo upgrade from setup.
Setup shopuld complete succefully.

Thnx,
MN

I did all the suggestions above, but what worked for me was to do the update with the credentials of the user who installed prior versions of ePolicy Orchestrator. After login in as that user the installation went smooth. I hope it helps somebody.

Just to know

I am still using Version 3.0.1 from ePo Orchestartor

I will upgrade today to 3.0.2 Sp2a

If i install Patch 6, must i also install patch 5 and 4 ?
