hi

i am trying to put some HTMLs in the Upfront (say for example in News box description), but these tags are not parsed and on the screen displaying as HTML tags.

if i put <b> for bold, it still displays as <b> and not bolding the test in that.

how to make it happen?

regards,
sudhi

Hi,

You gotta do that via cer3/webcontent/styles.css file or cer3/templates/language/ie4 (depending on the browser) /upfront.utml & upfront_inframe.utml

Depending on what U wanna change you gotta do it one way or another.

hope this helps

Hi

Many many thanks.

u resolved my earlier question placed here and i should say that the answer is most helpful.

What I asked in this thread is that, I want to make a few words in a NewsBox descriptions to bold or say I want give a hyperlink in the description, how to do that. If i put the Anchor tag in the description, thats getting displayed as Anchor tag itself and not as a hyperlik.

thanks

hi

an update to the query again from me.

I am trying to hide the Cognos logos on the screens in upfront. i changed all the files where those .gif files are used, but the still the image is there on the web. Are they coming from the any DLL files??

if i rename the .gif file, a missing image structure can be seen on the screen.

likewise if i need to update the colors from the default blue our company standard, which is the best way, because in some cognos files its hardcoded!!

Which template needs to be updated?

regards,
sudhi

sudhi,
changing the gif files ought to work; it did for me. Have you shut down the upfront server and restarted after the amends? A reboot can help....
You can change the hardcoded colours with the use of a hex editor on the .exe files. Remember to back-up the file first, though. Search for 000099 (Cognos dark blue) and ff9933 (medium orange) and change the relevant occurances to the required value.
If you haven't read it thoroughly, I would recommend strongly the pdf &quot;Upfront Developers Guide&quot; - 200 pages. If it's not part of your documentation install, then get it from the Cognos website.

You are essentially trying to create a new &quot;theme&quot;.
There are several .gif, .bmp and .jpg files to modify in
order to modify/create a theme.
We also need to create themes that have the COGNOS logo and name removed from UPFRONT screens.
There is a specific section in the documentation that describes, in pretty good detail, how to accomplish this.
It works.

with all ur help, I almost redesigned the look and feel if my webfront except one place... Its the POwerplay report run screeen,

When i click the Report, it enters Modify Report screen (Dimension filtering to customise report). That screen seems derived from the pprp.exe file !!!

thinking of doing something with exe if it the correct one to modify. my questions are am i looking at the right place and if editing exe is the option, which editor u suggest for this hex file (i tried in notepad, when i clicked save, its forcing to save in another name, file is not readonly).

regards,
sudhi

Hi,

In order to change the look&feel of PowerPlay Web reports do it via styles.css or ppweb_main.css located under ppwb folder.
In order to make no logos to appear open the tree.utml, upfront.utml, upfront_inframe.utml and so on with *.utml files and comment or delete the <td> where gif's are located.

Hope this helps

Just to point out....
styles.css for v7.1 and up
ppweb_main.css till v7.1
