Be carefull flashing (or updating) your BIOS Brenda, cuz this is extremely dangerous, if you download an wrong BIOS image, you'll mess up your motherboard, definitively, messed up!.
So, the best step to take is, first, go to your motherboard's brand webpage and try to find an update to your BIOS, but try to check in your MB Manual first for the model, and think again if you really need to update your BIOS, cause sometimes is not even needed, well, depends...
Then, well, that's it, and if you can make a backup of your current BIOS image then it will be a good idea. Gigabite has a tool to do that, but i think, im not sure, that you wont be able to install it in anyother motherboard, but in theirs.
First of all: BIOS updating should only be done if things don't work the way they should, like recognizing a new type CPU or HDD size limitations, ie. installing a bigger and better drive...
get the Image (BIOS) from the manufacturers website along comes their own Flash proggy, and see there for instructions!... most flash progies allow you to make a backup of your existing ROM image to be saved onto Floppy...
while Flashing the BIOS make sure that you do not turn off or Reset the PC until it is safe to do...
Some MOBO's have dual BIOS images that incase you Flashed the Wrong Image, will still function once you set a certain jumper or use a key combo... Study the Manual for this, and see if your mobo has it...
