We use Solomon IV v2.06. I connect the tables to MS Access using a Pervasive ODBC driver.

I have information in one table that I would like to use to update another table. I have done this successfully with our payroll tables, but for some reason, I am not able to do this with our inventory tables.

This is the error that I am getting. "ODBC--update on a linked table failed. [Pervasive Software][ODBC interface][Pervasive Software (#81)]. I have double-checked the fields to make sure they are the same data-type. The key fields from which the tables are linked are exactly the same, and there are no null values in any of the records. I don't know what else to do, but I sure don't want to have to make all of the updates manually.

Any suggestions? I would be eternally grateful.

Hi,

Sounds like you are trying to insert a value in a linked field that does not have a corresponding value in the linked table. So you probably should upodate the table that is linked to, first.

Hans.

I agree with hanso. Write restrictions in your update query to eliminate any possibility of an unmatched record, and your update query should be fine. Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine
