Hi,

I need to do update tables in a paradox 5.0 database using SQL Server 7.0, i have set up as follows:

Set up and ODBC link to the Paradox Directory containing the DB files.
Set up a linked server in SQL Server to the ODBC entry, using MSDASQL as the provider.
I have installed MDAC 2.5(which includes JET 4.0) and BDE 5.01.
I can view table contents using OPENQUERY(Select *....) but still cannot update any paradox tables!

Is there something I am glaringly doing wrong?

I've just installed SP3 for SQL Server and SP3 for the Jet 4.0 but still no luck!

I've been trying to get this to work for a couple of months now and am well and truly fed up..

All help very much appreciated,

Thanks,

Alaistair.

You could try ticking RPC & RPC Out in the linked server dialog box.

tried turning on RPC in/out, i think it only helps when connecting other SQL Servers so you can use their procedures remotely..

thanks though,

Al

I assume you have PK on all the tables, seem to recall that timestamps are useful on tables when updating.

yep got primary keys set on the table i'm trying to update..
