Updating OS without internet? 3

One of my two HDDs (just OS/Apps) has no connection to the inertnet and is physically separate and blinded by its dual boot install from all other drives. I use XP-Pro on both.

I've always used "Automatic Updates" for Windows. Is there any way that I can download the updates as executables or w/ MSI onto the other routine-workstation HDD (w/ internet), and then manually install the update over onto the internet-blinded HDD? I mean, perform it from a floppy, CD-Rom, whatever. Never seen this option and not sure how to keep Windows XP up to date on HDD without internet connection.

Thoughts?

khalidaaa, thank you for responding to my query.

I'm reading th link in another window. Being a standalone workstation, not on a server or organizationally affiliated, should I have any problems?

"WSUS 3.0 Administration Console Software Prerequisites:
Additional Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003 SP1 or later, Windows XP SP2 and Windows"

At least one of the two versions instally onto my OS. Have you ever heard of a private user using this? This would be fantastic if it worked! My kingdom for updates on removable media . . .

Again, thank you

My question is since most updates pertain to security/vulnerability risks, why bother if this boot-up can't see the Internet anyway?

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

Ton Hu - thanks; I'm already reading your article. I think it hits the nail on the head. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Davetoo, you are definitely correct but not all of them apply to security. I can't afford to be excluded from the ability to keep my operating system up to date. Wouldn't want to. I'd get nervous, get hives and stuff. Bad breath.

Thanks for your response though. Point taken.

khalidaaa - so I install MMC 3.0 on the HDD with the internet and the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 onto the blinded HDD so as to be able to "snap-in" updates to its OS (XP-Pro).

Simplified I know, but the basic idea?

That is astounding! For the part of the world with isolated PCs or slow internet you found the best thing I have ever seen!
I gave you a STAR! and if I could I would have given you ten. The software unpacks itself, does what is is supposed to, and it works.
Thank You. Everyone should follow the link and grab ctupdate.

Ton Hu - thank you so much for the article. Do you know of anyone who has implemented this system? Does it work seamlessly as though the updates were slipstreamed right from the download>installer into XP-Pro resulting in an integral, not patchworked, up to-date OS on my HDD?

Again, thanks.
