I'm trying to setup our server to download the DAT updates, and then have the local machines download the DAT files from that server. It keeps failing because it is looking for the update.ini file in the directory with the DAT files, but I can't figure out a way to download that file to the server... I can only get the DAT files to download. Any help? Oh yeah, and don't laugh, but we're using Virusscan V 4.5.1.

Thanks

so you have you epo server and another server that you want to download to?

If Are you using EPO to manage everything or do you just have virusscan and nothing else?

strike my last post...
I meant to say...

Only Virusscan... We don't have EPO.

if you dont have epo then it's a pain

then it's easierif rename the files and the contants of the ini

Ok, well maybe its not worth it to do then. I can just make everyone's machine download from Mcaffee's FTP, I just thought that if there was some easy way to do it, then I would do it.

Which files need to be renamed? the DAT files? or the ini files?

Make a share on your server, make new mirror task in VirusScan Console on this server, choose this shared folder as a target. This will make a local mirror of McAfee update server. Then point workstations to this share instead of McAfee server.

I can't find the "mirror task" in the console. I searched in the help file for Virsuscan, and it talks about it, but I don't see it anywhere. Does it have to be activated somehow?
Thanks!

Do you have access to McAfee AutoUpdate Architect? Not sure if it is included with VirusScan 4.5.1, but if you have access to it with your Grant Number, this will allow you to set it up the way you had wanted.

Open VirusScan console, click Task -> New Mirror Task
