i've been updating my WinNT erd once in awhile since we change/add/remove user info and i noticed that the process didnt change my erd a bit, even the dates. i learned that updating ERDs, one must use the command "rdisk/s" on the command prompt on WinNT. what is the equivalent command in Win2000 Server to update back-up data stored in my erd? thank you very much.

When you backup the System State, the registry hives are also copied to %SystemRoot%\Repair\RegBack.

When you manually create an ERD, and check the Registry backup box, your NTUSER.DAT and UsrClass.dat are also copied to the %SystemRoot%\Repair\RegBack folder.

thank u, those are new to me. so, what would be the command if i want to update my erd?

Not sure if this answers your question. To make Windows 2000 ERDs, I use the Microsoft Backup utility (Start->Programs->Accesories->System Tools->Backup). Hope that helps

it will make a one time backup only. it wont update your ERD. you will notice when you take note of the dates of the files.

There is nothing to update on ERD for Windows 2000, these 3 files are for restoring to 'exactly after installation' state, not to restore to 'before last cahnges' state. I never used this floppy and dont know why it is needed :)
All you need to restore Windows 2000 system in case of failure is on backups and in %SystemRoot%\Repair\RegBack folder.

When you update, are you using a blank disk, or trying to overwrite the old ones. ERD's only work with blank disks.
