Server kept crashing changed the scsi cards to a newer model as the old ones weren't available. They are said to be the right ones.
Got the server back up and running. When I first boot up.
The services start I can open the Arvserve it.
But the tapes are either saying updateing or dismounted or show the correct info. I try to do a restore and
and just after awhile says bad media tape loaded manually or never gets anywhere and times out.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Peter:

Just a thought...

Since you apparently changed some server hardware, check the SCSI connectors on the cables to your backup drive(s). I once spent three days with a problem similar to this, and it ended up being a single pin on my SCSI cable connector being bent over and not making contact.

Good luck!

"What was that?"

follow the advice in Which Driver Should I Use? faq478-3987
get the latest updates for ARCserve
then run through device configuration and set it with no tape drives assigned to the library. After that go back and run it again this time let the drives be assigned to the library. Another way is to delete the Tape Engine registry key.
