I would like to know if there is a way to update one column from another column in the same table. I want the autonumber field to also be in another column in the same table without making the new column an autonumber feild. Is this possible?

thank you

i have found that if its an autonumber field i cant use it on my form as a look up feild. So if i could get it to put the same value in a seperate column then i can use that column as my look up column.

???

an autonumber feild can not be edited. so if i keep it as it is they can scrol to get the information they were looking for but they cant type in the field. i want them to be able to type in the field when they are trying to look something up. and i want to be able to do this with out making another input feild on the form.

For me, a combo used as a navigation tool shouldn't be bound !

Hope This Helps, PH.

You can look in an autonumber field various ways, first has phv mentioned, having an unbound combobox linked to that autonumber field, 2nd with Dlookup... and many other twisted ways, Sql Query, etc.....

thank you very much i used a text box that was unbound and it works just like i wanted it to.

thanks again
