Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has come across this problem. Just checked the DAT Definition/Deployment summary, and found one of our machines out of date by a fair few updates. When I checked the users pc, it refused to update, and gave details of the following unhandled exception error;

CMcAfeeScript::SetNextValidSiteToUse()

and claimed it was "unable to find a valid repository".

Why this should be, I don't know, as no settings have been changed, and it was working fine until recently. No one else has a problem in the company, either.....

I tried to uninstall VirusScan 7.1, in order to re-install to fix the problem, but the Send Agent Install fails each time. Is it possible to remove the Agent which is still on the pc, and re-install Virus scan subsequently? How exactly do you remove an Agent?

Also, does the problem ring any bells with anyone as to what may be the cause?

Hope someone can help!

T.

If you are running epo, you need to uninstall the epo agent before you can uninstall virusscan 7.1

Ooops.

Too late.....

Any way to remove the agent safely, other than by deleting the folder in the C:\ drive?

(Have manually installed VirusScan 8.00 and sdat 4430 in the meantime - update still not working though.)

I've never had to uninstall the epo agent before installing VS 7.1 or 8.0 they're pretty much seperate programs and you shouldn't have any problem uninstalling one or the other.

You might just need to reinstall the agent, or check your repository and verify it's up to date.

To guarantee a full, clean uninstall/reinstall, McAfee recommends that first ALL McAfee products be uninstalled (I usually browse to confirm that all the product directories are empty) then uninstall the ePO agent. This last step empties the last remaining directory, Common Framework, and you're SURE you're starting with a clean, uncorrupted agent.

Can't you run FRMINST.EXE \REMOVE=AGENT to get the ePO agent (= Common Framework agent) to remove itself?

To uninstall the agent use:

framepkg.exe /remove=agent

To do a force reinstall do this:

framepkg.exe /install=agent /forceinstall

That usually does the trick for me.

Thanks guys,

Problem now sorted. Old agent is history, shiny new one in place, working perfectly well.

Aprreciate the help.
