UpdateIndex index processing failed for [<servername>\Exchange 2000 Mailbox\defaultInstance\defaultBackupSet\default].

This is the error i have received lately while trying to do an incremental backup on the mailbox of our Exchange 2000 box. Any ideas?

patch 658 fixes this problem. You have to apply the patch then run a full backup.

I tried to do a download of updates on the CS but it did not find any new ones.... when did 658 come out? It is for 6.1 i presume.

Currently im at 6.1 SP3 with 638, 639 and 641

How do i get this newest one??

thanks

You have to log in to the Commvault MA site to grab the patch. My understanding is that the downloader only grabs critical updates and service pack releases.

Does anyone know why CV doesnt add all the updates within the downloader?

So i got the patch 658 and tried to install it on the commservce and i got the following error during install...
"[0658] not applicable for packages installed on the machine"

Any thoughts?

Ok Birky,

That worked. I was able to install the patch on the actual exchange client. However, i noticed earlier in this thread they said it was necessary to run a full backup after the install but we run synthetic fulls for our exchange. Will it be a problem to just have it run the incremental and then build a synthetic full?

thanks everyone for all your help

I shouldn't think it will be a problem because the Synthetic Full is just like a full anyway.

I think birky is correct - as long as it creates a new full index which i believe a synthetic does you should be good to go.

BkpAdmin and birky,

thanks for your help! I ended up running an actual full backup after the patch and it finished fine. The incrementals after that have run fine since too.
