Updated anti-virus and still get viruses 1

[Righty]

I have a few computers with updated anti-viruses (McAfee, Norton, E-trust, PC-Cillin). Any idea how viruses still get into these computers even though they have these updated anti-viruses on them? And any idea what the anti-virus companies are doing to combat this problem. I understand if it is a brand new virus and the definition has not come out, but some of these have been around for a while, (Klez, Mimic). Any ideas???

Ok..Did you run a full system scan for around 3-4 times.

Also some websites have free online scan...just try that too.

Next did you try running a spyware detection program such as Spybot search and destroy and find if there are any spyware in your machine.

No I haven't, but I will. My question though is how are the viruses infiltrating the computer when the anti-virus is kept up to date?

Righty, when you say "viruses still get into these computers" and "infiltrating the computer", do you mean that the computers are becoming infected with these viri; or are you just getting a warning/notification from the AV software?

The only perfect way to prevent receiving (which does not neccessarily mean getting infected) a virus is to turn off the power. If you have e-mail, eventually a virus will be sent to you by someone. If you surf the internet, you are exposing your computer to all sorts of possible malware. There are even some worms that propogate through a network without any user intervention.

Remove Spyfiles by using these 5 programs .
Make sure you use the SpyBot/SpywareBlaster/Ad-aware/Bazooka/Swat It > Online > Update button regularly .
Once you have the program installed , open SpyBot and select the "Immunize" icon on the left & Click on Immunize , in the new page .
Then check the box "lock hosts file read-only as protection against hijackers".
