Update Stats - not updating after reindex or sp_updatestats

Hi

I am having a weird problem

RUnning both

UPDATE STATISTICS <<table>> WITH FULLSCAN
and
sp_updatestats

both dont change the modCtr column in Sysindexes for that database.

Does anyone have anyideas???????????

Even a re-index of the table doesnt shift the indexes on my tables

Any ideas

Is there a clustered index on that table?
In order for update stats and re-index to work you have to have a clustered index.
