Basic Access 2003 user and need a way to see some of my calculations as data is input through the forms. This data is coming off of weight tickets. I have created a query for all of the calculations, and have put the calculated fields on the form. As I input data I would like to see those calculated fields show up so I can double check the hand written tickets before they are filed. It would just be double work to have to run the query after I have input all the data.

So is there a way to see the calculations on the form or what other suggestions might you guys have for this application?

Thanks

You need to base your form on the query which includes the calculations. Then as you enter the data into the form the calculations will work automatically.

Well I added the query fields I needed from design view and it fills the other fields up in the form with #Name? and will not allow me to replace it. Under design wizard it gives me the error "can't connect or try and pick only fields from either tables or queries".

Help!

I'm afraid I don't follow what you have done.

Your form needs to be based on a query which includes the fields that you are going to input data into and additional calculated columns which perform the calculations you want to see in the form.
You can test the query first by running the query and entering data used in the calculations; you should see the calculations working.
When you create the form based on this query it will work the same way.

Basically I just have one table and one query so far and want to pull fields out of both and am not being able to do that. The query holds all of the calculations but I need to enter the data through a form based on the table fields. I want to see some of the queried fields (calculations) on the form.

If you only have one table then the query must be based on that table, mustn't it? Why can't you include all the fields from the table in the query, then base the form on that?

Well that is what the book says too, but it just has not been working. I am going to start over and re-input the table and query and go from there.

Thank you for your help! :)
