HELP... I am getting between 2 and 4 unwanted web pages popping up every time I log onto the internet. One is a site for free porn... and I really don't want it! The others seem to be relatively harmless but annoying. I have several pop-up blockers installed that seem useless. To get rid of the problems, I have run NoAdware (a purchased program), Ad-Aware SE, Spybot, Yahoo's Anti-Spy, and Norton 2005 one after the other; I have changed my computer's settings for more security, etc.; and I even tried to delete altnet from my registry.

NoAdware tells me that it can't delete altnet, and Norton tells me of threats, but it won't delete them. I think I have tracked it down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\altnet, but I am a relative "newbie" and I'm not sure. I need some sound advice ASAP!!!!

Take a look at that faq. If those steps do not help, then you can post a hijackthis log in this thread and someone will be able to offer you additional suggestions.

It's 10 O'Clock ( somewhere! ).
Are your registry and data backed up?

Did you run your spyware programs while in safe mode?

Sounds like you've got a BHO (Browser Helper Object) that's causing some problems.

Another really great tool is the Toolbarcop which you can download from under the Spyware Tools.

This will show you all of your BHOs (some are good and some are bad) You will probably find the AltNet BHO and be able to remove it with this tool.

Hijack will also allow you to do this which has already been recommended.

Thanks to all for the help. I used Hijack and fixed the problem. Thanks to all again.
