Does anyone know why I receive several popups that not only appear as a window but are created on my desktop and are also loaded in my startup while using internet explorer? I am using google pop up blocker with that app.

However, when ever I use Mozzila I do not receive the pop ups.

It sounds like adware to me.

Have you run Spybot on your PC?

Andy,

Yes I have. It does remove programs but once I start internet explorer the same thing happens. Any other thoughts?

Look at the FAQ. Could be a malicious spy like CoolWebSearch. If you are still stuck after that, post here again.

Whatever is causing the problem has installed itself as an add-in to Explorer. Just had a similar where adaware, spybot and AVG didn't find a problem. Temporarily installed McAfee VSE 8.0i and it found six more virii and fixed the problem.

do a search on yahoo for a program called hijackthis run that remove any "search" entries, also run ad-aware, if neither of these work doe the following:

boot into safe mode like ifix1 said then do a regedit, click on the edit button and click find, and do a search for the exact name of the spyware, when you find it delete the string and if it is in a key by itself delete the entire key also. once you search through the entire registry and delete every key, do a search on your computer (c drive) for a file name delete any that match your search, then restart to normal mode, all spyware should be gone.... this works with any spyware file. for the ones that ad-aware and spy-bot won't pick-up Hope that Helps! -Joe

Thanks guys. I downloaded ad-ware and executed and that seem to resolve my issues for now. Time will tell.
