Unwanted Pop up windows appearing!

I am connecting to the Internet via IE. When the pc makes the connection to my homepage, whether it be Lycos, Yahoo, google etc..... I get a series of popup windows appear wihich themselves contain spam and junk messages. How can I stop these pop ups appearing? They never appeared in the past!

Make sure you do not have "Gain" installed. Some of these "freeware" companies are bundling it in with their products, and a lot of people wind up installing it without realizing it.

Once it is installed, you will received pop-up ads while surfing. Just something to check!

Get a pop-up stopper. some are free like from panicware.com.

if not you might have spyware installed.

Go to

http://www.download.com

and search for either adaware or adware (i cant remember what its called). Even if this dont solve the problem it may speed up your internet access. ----------------------------------------
