Hello. I have a problem with vertical and horizontal lines appearing in my pdfs when I distill from other adobe applications. The lines are very thin and when I change my magnification level they move around, disappear and reappear. Can anyone tell me a way to rid my documents of them?
Thanks!
KAT

Can you post a link to the problem PDFs? You mention other Adobe applications, which ones? Do the lines appear when you print?

The lines could be "guides", which are a feature of the viewing application, not artifacts of the PDF document.

Or they could be lines set to draw at "hairline" width, which means "a line drawn at 1-unit thickness". Which means, on high-resolution devices, the line virtually disappears, and this would hold true of viewing on-screen at high magnification.

We need all the details!

I'm not able to link the document, but I will give you additional information about the problem.

Mostly, the lines come into play when I distill from InDesign. (I am using InDesign 2.0.2 and Acrobat Pro 6.0)

They are not guides. I know this because I don't have guides in the spots where the lines show up. Also, I would think the lines would remain stationary if they were representing guides.

I don't think they're lines set to draw at hairline width because the lines move around and sometimes disappear at lower magnification as well.

Fortunately, the lines don't show up when I print the document. Unfortunately, the application of the pdf is not for printing, but for viewing on cd-rom.

Does this information help make any sense of what is going on?

Not really. Lines can appear and disappear at various resolutions because of how they "register" to the resolution of the monitor. Hope that makes sense.

I have and use both InDesign and Acrobat, and haven't noticed this problem.

Well, thanks for replying.
Good day.

I'd still like to see one of these PDFs, if they aren't confidential, to see what's going on. Professional curiosity!

If you can email one to me, you can find my email address on my website. Thanks.
