Dumb question, we have fax machines which are unrestricted on our Meridian 61C. The class of servce includes UNR. Is this the only coding necessary for these to be used for long distance calls, including international ones? Also can someone just plug in a analog phone into the jack and make a long distance call on these unrestricted sets? And if so, is there a way to prevent this? I hope this question makes some sense.

TGAR and NCOS settings also have to be considered. Make sure they match the settings associated with a digital or analog line that has international access.

As to could someone plug in an analog phone and call out? Yes they could.

here's a quick and dirty post on ncos use ...might help. tgar/targ is not often in play, if the tgar on the set matches the tgar on the route, you can't use that route... ncos is matched to frl in ld 86 rlb's.. you can't stop people from stealing LD if they are on site.. most fax machines are not restricted, and that software stays with the tn, you could rewire all the fax jacks to work on pins other then 4 5 and make cords to match, but if the user tries they will dial around the best attempt to block ld..

Thank you. I'm still trying very much to get a handle on understanding TGAR and NCOS.

tgar is simple.. if they match (tgar and targ) it blocks.. ncos must be =to or greater then the frl in the rlb...

9 sends a call to load 90..90 assigns a rlb to a npa (1803) or a nxx (434)and sends the call to load 86

the rlb/rli in 90, picks a route and assigns a cost (frl 3)

so i dial 91803..90 says use rlb 3..rlb says use route 3 and the price is 3... ncos on my set is 3 or greater... i can go....unless tgar is turned on and my tgar is =to the targ on route 3...

a lot of steps..rlb's can have mult entries, routes can have a step to another route option..... just go to load 90 prt a single npa go to 86 and print that rlb and you'll see the route assigned and the frl set
