Unrecognized USB Device problem

Having problems, under XP Pro, recognizing USB devices.

System fails to recognize HP scanner and Canon Digital camera. re-installing device drivers does not help.

Any ideas?

Did you tried deleting the usb from device manager and then try re-installing the drivers..
