Unrecognized database format

Does anyone know how to retrieve the data from a database when you get the following error when you try to open it?
Unrecognized database format <path of database>.

I would appreciate any help.

Download a copy of "Jetcomp.exe" from the Microsoft website. It's a compact/repair utility that's a lot better than what's built into Access. That's worked for me every single time I've had the "unrecognized database format" message.

Thanks for the info but when I went to Microsoft and tried to find jetcomp.exe it could not find it.
