I'm getting some odd behavior in Fireworks (v 7.0.2.295)where it occasionally wraps a line of text needlessly.

for example,

I type in "object" and it comes out:
objec
t

The behavior seems erratic, so sometimes it works as I would expect. When it does happen, resizing the text box doesn't seem to help.

Any ideas what could be the issue?

Did you notice that if you change the font, the problem goes away? But if you return to the same font again, the problem returns.

I had this happen to me last night. I selected a font that was a close match to what I chose and everything was fine.

hmmm, can't say I tried changing font. What an odd bug...

Thanks for the pointer. Will put that in the play book.

cheers

Yes, it is an odd bug, isn't it.

Mine was with the letters e & a. If an a followed an e (only with this one font), the problem remained.

Real Estate came out as:

Re
al Estate

Also, when I was changing fonts, I also noticed one of the fonts put a huge gap between e and a, so Real Estate turned out:

Re al Estate

Funny huh?

Well, good luck to you!

Fireworks still rocks!

This is probably caused by using non standard fonts, and when the fonts were made they had errors within them.
You could try finding an alternative version of the font and replacing it, within the windows font folder.

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..

As I recall, my problem cropped up with the standard Arial font, although I had previously had it in a non-standard font from Adobe.

cheers

It's possible, but I'd say as well that I was using a standard font. I've been a graphics designer and software developer for years, and I've NEVER seen a problem like this with these fonts, or any other program. Whatever it's cause, I feel strongly that it's not the font's fault!

:)
