Unlocking Live update on a remote office PC

I know how to unlock the live update from the server but was wondering if there is a way to unlock it on the client PC. I am remote now and don't always have access back to the network and would like to be able to update my virus signatures maunally.

What version of the antivirus software are you running?

One way could be to download the latest virus definitions from the Symantec website and update them that way.

My version is 8.1 Corporate

I attempted to download the latest defs and after running the .exe file it stated that it had updated my defs. When I ran SAV again it still showed the old virus def date of over a month ago.

Strange - I tried an offline update on two different machines using SAV CE 8.1, and it worked correctly on both (ie, they are now both using updated virus defs, with different dates to the defs on the AV parent server).

I suppose you've already tried a restart of the Symantec Antivirus services and / or the computer?
