Hey

I have a client who claims his machine shuts down at random times and other times just his screen switchs off and he has to reboot. He has had it in with me about 3 times. It has never shut down and the screen has never just turned off so i cant really trouble shoot it. I thought it might have been a power problem at his place so i advised a ups which he got and claims he still has the same problem. I have removed all the add on cards, changed ram, reseated cpu, he has onboard graphics. Ive run hardware tests etc. Still i have never personally seen the problem.

If anyone has any idea what the prob might be plz let me know.
Thanks alot

Please post complete system specs, mfgr, mobo, part #, CPU etc.

Your suspicion that it may be a power issue could well be correct; I have seen this at two locations.

A site visit, armed with a big UPS might be in order here.

CPU might be overheating - more air circulation on cpu or drop cpu speed.

ya, it sounds like the CPU is overheating. Does the client have the PC inclosed in very tight quarters? (disrupting air flow) Possible in a very warm environment?
