Hi there,

We have a 4-digit extension system in place, first extension starts at 2111 (Reception). So far we don't have too many employees, so assigned extensions stop at 2119. Voice mail seems to be on 2125.

All extensions which aren't programmed are coming up as 'Not in Service' -- which they should. However 2126 comes up as 'Busy' and 2127 rings forever. If I enter the system config, it shows the hardware for these two extensions as "Other", where for the normal extensions it properly displays the phone model.

Are these reserved system DNs or is there any way I can find out why 2126 is busy and why 2127 just rings and rings?

Any help is appreciated and if there are any clarifying questions let me know and I will try and provide more details.

Thank you!

find out where these extensions (2126, 2127) are wired to ...

Are you having any problems or you trying to cleanup/ understand
What system is this (hardware/ sw )

First, what model of Norstar KSU?

Other can mean an ATA (Analog Terminal Adaptor) or ASM (Analog Station Module).

Need more info.

If I go through 'Maintenance > System Version' I get:
SP: 30DHC12 NAT

If I go through 'Maintenance > Port/DN Status' I see:
After hitting the DEVICE softkey underneath 2125 and 2126 they are assigned to STK1 -- that looks like StarTalk... which is the Voicemail system, correct?

2127 shows IATA if I hit the DEVICE softkey underneath it.

As for the physical wiring, I don't have access to that until the painters are finished in the utility room.

Yes, STK1 is your Vmail and x2127 is your internal ATA. That's why x2127 rings forever and your Vmail is busy.

What does the internal ATA do? Or what is its purpose?
Thanks.

It converts the digital signal to analog. Cordless telephone, fax, modem, whatever analog device you can think of.
