Hello,
We currently run Netbackup 4.5 on Solaris 8 platform, but due issues and HW resource changes, our IT Lead wants to migrate to a Windows 2000 platform. A key component to the migration will be exporting and re-importing the Unix catalogs to allow the new W2k server to restore backups performed on the Unix box.
I know this can be done, but there are a few catches. Does anyone have experience performing this procedure? If so,
any advice or white papers they might suggest?
Thanks in advance,
MP

First off, bad move going from a Unix platform to a Microshaft platform.

Now I have that off my chest. This can be done with the following rules.

Database cannot be compressed!

Database must be flat file db. I am hoping you did not convert the database from flat file when you upgraded/if you upgraded NetBackup.

Post your email and I will send you a document I wrote up to do this.

Hi comtec17

I would be most interested in seeing your doc on migrating the catalogs please.

Email is andybaird@bairdi.com .

Thx :)

Hi Comtec17,
Your feedback is appreciated. Please send your doc to mark.park@emailsolutions.ca.
p.s. I agree that the migration defies common sense
Thanks again
