Running a Citrix Metaframe XP serving to PC's and Unix workstations.

Random dropouts on the Unix boxes, and also randomly when trying to access the system, we are getting a message "cannot connect to desktop" followed by the IP address.

Could really do with some help here!

Could be a DNS issue.

Check by using the IP address of the ICA Master Browser (presumably a MFW server) in the Server Location field in the UNIX client.

This is usually good as a temporary fix; if the IP address gives a stable result, but using the server's name does not, then you've definitely got a naming issue.

I hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

sorry, it appears to be using / trying the IP. It gives the error, cannot connect to citrix server 'desktop', then gives an ip that failed... any ideas? its causing problems all the time

It looks like you are trying to connect to a server called desktop - maybe you really want to connect to a published application called desktop?

I don't quite follow what you mean by "using / trying the IP", or "gives an ip that failed" - could you expand on this with error messages, etc.

Thanks CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
